The Alta View Roadrunners were born to run, and in 2017, they welcomed a brand-new replacement elementary school where they can take off unfettered into new horizons of learning. The new 83,000-square-foot Alta View Elementary School replaced an aging facility in the community of White City in Sandy, Utah, and raised the bar for 21st-century learning. Equipped with state-of-the-art learning centers, the new Alta View was designed with large group instructional space and “Brain Booster” studios where students receive 30-minute specialized learning sessions designed to boost engagement and comprehension. The new school was built primarily around a steel frame and features an aesthetically elevated, tasteful brick veneer and metal panel facade that was thoughtfully designed to complement the surrounding single-family residential neighborhood and natural features of the area. Construction was carefully phased so students could continue attending the existing facility without having to be relocated away from their community. The existing school building was demolished to make way for improved playground and outdoor learning areas and improved site circulation with the separation of bus lanes from parent drop-off and pickup. The new Alta View Elementary lifts young minds to new aspirational heights and sets a renewed precedent of educational excellence for Canyons School District.
