Description

Emery County grappled with the challenge of maintaining an aging indoor pool facility for many years. In 2007, the Emery County Commission enlisted the expertise of NWL Architects to evaluate various replacement options. The selected plans secured funding from the "Community Impact Board," resulting in the development of a stunning $6,000,000.00 pool complex. This complex features both an indoor competition/lap pool and an outdoor family recreation pool. The client's vision to merge the indoor space with the outdoors led to the incorporation of a full-height glass curtain wall on two sides of the indoor facility. Completed in 2009, the project comprises a 6-lane, 25-yard indoor lap pool, and an outdoor family leisure pool boasting zero-depth entry, a big toy feature, a current channel, and a large slide. Locker and toilet facilities cater to both indoor and outdoor patrons. State-of-the-art "Myrtha" pool structures were utilized for both facilities, with the outdoor family pool boasting a cushioned pool floor. Notably, this project received the 2009 AIA Honor Award presented by the American Institute of Architects, Utah Chapter.
