The new Alta View Elementary replaces an aging facility located in the heart of the White City community with state-of-the-art learning centers. Large Group instructional spaces, and “Brain Booster” studios where students work with Instructional Technicians in 30-minute sessions are designed to “boost” engagement and comprehension. Designed primarily around a steel frame, the exterior features a brick veneer and metal panel facade carefully designed to fit within the surrounding single family residential neighborhood. Construction was carefully phased to allow students continued attendance at the existing facility and to avoid relocation of the students away from their community. The existing was building was demolished to make way for improved playground and outdoor learning areas and improved site circulation with separation of bus from parent drop-off and pickup. The new Alta View Elementary School opened to students fall 2017.
